Would you call yourself timid?

Are you shy or easily frightened? Some people are, but even the people that seem bold and self-confident on the outside usually have some insecurities and doubts in their hearts.

For many of us, it’s easy to be timid when it comes to talking about Jesus. You can probably fill whole conversations about a bunch of different topics, but when there’s a chance to talk about our faith, it’s like our minds go blank and our mouths don’t know what to do! Well, you aren’t the only one that happens to.

A young pastor named Timothy was timid too, so his teacher and friend, Paul, sent him a letter to remind him of something very important: God’s Spirit was inside him.

And God’s Spirit didn’t create timidity. No, it gave Timothy power, love, and self-discipline to share his faith in Jesus with others.

You and I have that same Spirit of God living in our hearts through faith. So when it comes to sharing Jesus, we aren’t timid. We have God’s Spirit, giving us the power and self-discipline to share with others the great love Jesus has for them!

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

2 Timothy 1:7

Family Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank you for giving us your Holy Spirit, who fills us with power, love, and self-discipline instead of fear. Help our family to be brave in sharing our faith and trusting that you are always with us. Amen.
