Have you heard the word “hospitality” before?

It’s kind of a big one, but what it means is welcoming others with love. It can look like a lot of different things: inviting someone to your house, sharing a meal, including a new friend, or helping someone feel cared for.

Hospitality’s not hard, but it’s easy to forget to do it. It’s easy to get busy, focus on ourselves, or feel unsure about how to actually be hospitable. But it’s a great way to show the love of Jesus to people in real, everyday ways. When we open our homes and our lives to others, we reflect the welcome that God has given to us.

Welcoming others becomes much easier when we remember how God welcomed us.

We were strangers to God because of our sin, but he brought us close to himself through Jesus. In fact, the greatest act of hospitality is that Jesus gave his life so we could be a part of God’s family forever!

Now, as God’s family, we get to share that same love with others. It might be uncomfortable or inconvenient at times, but even small acts like sharing food or showing kindness can point people to Jesus. And you never know how God might use your kindness. Our verse today even reminds us that some people have welcomed angels without even realizing it! Big or small, it doesn’t matter. Every act of hospitality is a chance to show Christ’s love. So how can you be hospitable this week?

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

Hebrews 13:2

Family Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for welcoming us into your family. Help our home to be a place of kindness and love. Give us willing hearts to welcome others and share your love. Amen.
