Honesty is one of the most important values we can teach in our homes.
Every day, families face small moments where the truth is tested: admitting a mistake, telling what really happened, or choosing not to hide something. These moments matter more than we think.
God speaks clearly in this verse: He delights in truth. That means honesty isn’t just about avoiding trouble. It’s about reflecting God’s own character. When we tell the truth, we are living as His children.
Parents, this calling begins with us. Children learn honesty not just from what we say, but from what we do.
When we admit our own mistakes, keep our promises, and speak truthfully, we show what a trustworthy life looks like.
And when our children fail (as we all do) we have an opportunity to guide them with both truth and grace.
Because the reality is, we all struggle with honesty at times. That’s why we point our families to Jesus, who is “the way and the truth.” In Him, we find forgiveness for our failures and strength to grow in truthfulness.
In a world where it can be easy to bend the truth, Christian families stand out by living with integrity. And that kind of life brings joy to God.
The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.
Proverbs 12:22
