Working for the Lord

It’s easy for work to feel ordinary or even frustrating.

It’s easy for work to feel ordinary or even frustrating. Homework, chores, jobs, cooking, cleaning…these things don’t always feel meaningful. Sometimes we do them just to get them done, or because someone told us to. But God gives us a different perspective.

In this verse, God reminds us that all our work matters because we are really doing it for Him. Whether you are a child putting away toys, a student finishing assignments, or a parent serving your family, your work becomes an act of worship when it is done out of faith in him and with a willing heart.

This changes how we think about even the smallest tasks. Folding laundry can be a way to love your family. Doing your job well can be a way to honor God. Helping a sibling can reflect Jesus’ love.

God doesn’t just care about big, impressive things. He cares about faithfulness in everyday life.

And here’s the good news: we don’t work to earn God’s love. Through Jesus, we already have it. That frees us to work joyfully. Not for approval, but in response to His undeserved love for us.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

Colossians 3:23

Family Prayer

Lord, help us to work with willing hearts in everything we do. Remind us that our work matters because we serve You. Thank You for loving us through Jesus. Amen.
