“Finally! I can do whatever I want!” Having free time feels great, doesn’t it? We can rest, play, or just do what we enjoy.

But God reminds us that true freedom isn’t just about doing what we want. It’s about being free to do what’s right. And free is exactly what we are because of Jesus. When Jesus died and rose again, he set us free from sin, guilt, and fear. We don’t have to earn God’s love anymore. He already gives it to us completely through Jesus! That means we’re free, but the Apostle Paul reminds us not to use that freedom selfishly. We want to avoid thinking “Now I can just live for me.”

Instead, Jesus frees us so we can live for others, serving them out of love.

And guess where that can start? Right at home. Serving in love doesn’t have to mean something huge. It can be as simple as helping a sibling with homework, taking out the trash without being asked, or speaking kindly even when you feel annoyed. These little acts flow from Jesus’ love that’s in your heart.

So, this week, when you think about your free time, remember: because of Jesus, you’re free from sin and free for something wonderful: to love and serve the people around you.

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. – Galatians 5:13

Family Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank you for setting us free from sin and fear through Your love. Help us not to use our freedom to think only about ourselves, but to use it to serve others with kindness and joy. Show us ways to love our family at home through helping hands, patient words, and forgiving hearts. Thank you for serving us first, by giving Your life for ours. Help our home be filled with Your love this week. In your name we pray, Amen.
