Cornerstone is a new church in Centerton, Arkansas. You're invited to join us for our first worship service on September 14th, 2025.
Welcome to Cornerstone Lutheran. We are a new church coming to Centerton/Bentonville, Arkansas. We desire to be a church that keeps Christ as our Cornerstone. Our team's vision is for this to be a church that is built on Christ, made up of people who are built for each other. What does it mean for us to keep Christ as our Cornerstone? In everything we do, we want to keep the main thing the main thing. Christ builds us up with his Word, then we go build others up out of love and service to him.
Pastor Chartrand is a Virginia native who recently moved to Bentonville with his wife Charissa and their four boys in July 2024. After eight years of pastoral training, including an internship in Colorado Springs, and seven years at a ministry preparatory high school in Michigan, Ross is excited to lead a new church in the area. You'll find him enjoying great stories, staying active, working on his golf game, or exploring everything their new community has to offer. Ross and his team envision a church that's built on Christ, with people who are built for each other. Get in touch at any time:
Zach Thiel is Cornerstone's pastoral intern. He grew up in Nebraska, Michigan, and Minnesota. Zach and his wife Maddy met in high school and will celebrate 2 years of marriage in June. Maddy and Zach enjoy spending time outdoors: hiking, biking, or just going for walks. They love to explore new places, travel, and find new adventures. Zach enjoys both playing and watching just about any sport; some of his favorite activities include skiing, mountain biking, and fishing. Maddy enjoys art, cooking, and exercise.
We believe that justification comes through faith alone. We understand that this faith isn't something we achieve through our own efforts or decisions—it's a precious gift from God that enables us to trust in Christ's perfect sacrifice. Through faith, we receive Christ's righteousness and stand justified before God. This faith isn't dormant but living and active in our daily lives, producing good works not as a path to salvation, but as a grateful response to God's amazing grace.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
We believe that salvation is entirely God's gift to us—undeserved and unearned. We recognize that God's grace is His unmerited favor toward sinners, demonstrated most perfectly when He sent His Son to die for us while we were still sinners. We cannot contribute to our salvation through good works, religious ceremonies, or moral living. From beginning to end, our salvation is the work of God's grace alone.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the only infallible rule and authority for Christian faith and life. We hold that the Holy Scriptures are clear, sufficient, and authoritative, revealing everything we need to know for salvation. We submit to Scripture's authority over all else. Through the Bible, God speaks directly to our hearts today, guiding us in truth and teaching us His will for our lives.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
We believe that Jesus Christ is the sole mediator between God and humanity. We confess that salvation is found in no one else—Christ alone lived the perfect life we could never live and died the death we deserved. His substitutionary sacrifice on the cross fully satisfied God's justice. Through Christ alone, we have access to the Father. His resurrection confirms His victory over sin, death, and the devil, guaranteeing our salvation and eternal life.
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people." (1 Timothy 2:5-6)
